About us

Why our own server and our own app

Most chats run on someone else's servers that live off the attention and data of their people. Pokecio is the opposite. It is a Matrix server at pokecio.com and PockyAPP is its app. It runs on our own hardware in the European Union.

We don't want to be the biggest. We want you to be able to chat normally, send photos, share your location with friends and not have to wonder who is looking over your shoulder.

What we build on

Privacy is not an add-on
New chats are encrypted right away and notifications don't reveal who writes to you or what.

No ads, no tracking
We don't analyse what you do and we sell nothing. The website has no cookies or analytics.

An open protocol
We use Matrix. Your account works in Element too and you can write to people on other servers.

A human scale
There aren't many of us, so we know each other better. When something breaks, you write and a person answers.

How to join

Three steps to your first chat

Ask for an invite
Send an email to reg@pokecio.com saying who you are and which username you'd like. During the beta, accounts are created only with an invite.

Get the app
PockyAPP is available for Windows, Android and the browser. You enter the invite code when signing up right in the app.

Start chatting
Find your friends, create a group or start following public channels in Timeline.
