Messages

  • Fast messaging

    Quoted replies, edits, emoji reactions and deleting. Swipe a message to reply.

  • Delivered and read

    Ticks show the message went out and was read.

  • Aura and “typing…”

    The ring around a photo spins while someone types and glows when they're online. You can turn sharing it off.

  • Statuses

    A short status like “☕ Coffee break” with an expiry. Visible to the people you talk to.

  • Try again

    A message that failed to send has Try again and Cancel buttons under the bubble.

  • Moderation

    Room moderators and admins can delete other people's messages.

Timeline (alpha)

  • Posts in one place

    Posts from the chats and channels you follow in a single list, with reactions and comments.

  • Up to 6 photos in a post

    The first photo carries the text as its caption.

  • Edit and share

    Edit your own post and share any post to another chat.

  • Public channels

    Find them by searching the server and follow them with one tap.

  • Author card

    Tap a name to see their posts and a button to message them.

  • Comment notifications

    The author learns about a new comment. People in Element see the posts too.

    Several photos at once, full quality or resized. Location data is stripped.

    Video with a thumbnail and player, without hidden metadata.

  • Voice messages

    Hold to record and see the real waveform.

  • Files

    Documents and other files up to the server limit.

  • Chat gallery

    All photos from a conversation in one place.

Location and map

  • Location your way

    Exact, around 500 m, or city only. Your phone rounds approximate location itself.

  • Live location

    15 minutes, an hour or 8 hours. Keeps running with the app closed until you stop it.

  • Map tab

    Who is sharing their location with you, with their avatar and last update.

  • Our own map server

    Maps of Czechia and Slovakia from maps.pokecio.com, not from Google.

People and groups

  • New chat

    Find people by name or by @name:server address.

  • Groups

    Create a group, invite people, set a name, description and photo.

  • Invites

    Accept or decline an invite with one tap.

    Members and roles, shared photos, mute and pin.

Safety

  • End-to-end encryption

    A message is locked on your phone and unlocked only on the recipient's. New chats are encrypted automatically.

  • Notifications without snooping

    Google only gets a signal; the text is decrypted on your phone.

    See your signed-in devices and sign out strangers remotely.

  • Emoji verification and backup

    Verify your devices by comparing emoji and back up your keys.
