Version 0.10.0 is the biggest update since the first beta. It brings a new look, English, sign-up inside the app and a set of tools that make PockyAPP an everyday chat. It also unifies numbering: Android and Windows now share the same version.
A look that suits you
Until now the app only had a dark look. In Me · Theme you can now choose light, dark, or let the system decide. English is available too, switched in Me · Language.
An account without a browser
New people used to have to sign up elsewhere first. From 0.10.0 the account is created right in the app with a one-time invite code. Sign-up stays invite-only during the beta, but the whole path from download to the first message now happens in one place.
More order in conversations
Four things were added to conversations:
- Blocking and reporting. Block a person, report a message to the server admin and find the list of blocked people in settings.
- Pinned messages. An important message stays in a bar above the chat, and all pinned messages have their own list.
- Disappearing messages. In chat info you turn on automatic deletion after an hour, a day or seven days.
- Emoji search. Find a reaction by name right in the picker.
Fixes and security
The release also includes several changes you won’t notice until you need them:
Updates can’t be redirected away from pokecio.com, and an unsigned package is rejected.
The app lock now guards the PIN more carefully and a higher iteration count protects against guessing it. With the lock active you can no longer reply from a notification, and decrypted attachments in the cache are deleted on every launch.
The app will offer the new version itself. You can also download it from the Download page.
