Stretching a phone app across a whole tablet makes no sense. PockyAPP therefore recognises how large a display it has and rearranges itself accordingly.
A tablet is not a big phone
On a phone the screens slide over each other, as you are used to. On a tablet in portrait the chat list is on the left and the open conversation on the right. On a tablet in landscape a third panel appears: chat info, the photo gallery or the location map open next to the conversation, so you can still see it.
On a tablet the bottom bar is replaced by a side bar with a new-chat button. Settings, new chat and the guide don’t stretch into an unreadable width on a large display but stay in a pleasant column in the middle. It works in split screen and on Samsung DeX too, and when you rotate the tablet the open chat stays where it was.
Moving between screens is smooth. A chat slides in from the right and out again on return, chat info and the gallery slide out, the location picker rises from the bottom and the tabs in the bottom bar simply cross-fade.
Updates you don’t have to think about
You don’t download PockyAPP for Android from Google Play but directly from us. So that you don’t have to look after new versions, the app announces them itself:
- Once in a while it checks pokecio.com for a new version. It sends nothing about you or your device while doing so.
- If there is one, it shows a New version window with what’s new and what was fixed.
- You tap Update and the app downloads and verifies the version.
- Android asks for confirmation and you’re done.
Two checks before installing
Before installing, the app verifies two things: that the downloaded file has exactly the fingerprint we publish on the website, and that it’s signed with the same key as the app you already have.
Even if someone slipped in a foreign file, it can’t be installed.
You can turn the automatic check off in settings and look for new versions manually whenever you want. You’ll find all the changes in the changelog.
